Thus ends my first week…

of contract employment!  So far it has been very enjoyable.  I have no complaints whatsoever.  Everyone has been great … then again … they were great since I started the internship and now they’ll have to put up with me until the end of September!

One of the greatest things about being in publishing are the stories you hear.  Unfortunately, I cannot share that with anyone nor would I truly be capable of conveying the experiences of others that I have heard.  I can merely restate it and it just wouldn’t be the same.  I can however convey my own experiences … but i’ll wait a couple years or longer before I do that.  Let the memories and experiences ferment like a fine wine.  Actually I am not a wine drinker, so I really don’t know why I use that analogy.  Personally, I much prefer beer, particularly Creemore Springs, my friends will know it well since it is my well-known favourite.  Okay so aside from going off on tangents today…

I am still working on the On the Danforth website.  It is nearly complete.  Two more components to finish off.  I am also working towards a new website (which will be revealed soon) … and I have a big project to work on with a couple of friends.  Hopefully we can begin building a foundation.  I also need to work http://www.ehrencheung.com/ which is difficult to deal with because it is so experimental.

What else have I been up to?  Well last week, a friend and I drove up to Cambridge to shoot some photographs.  I’d swear, the town is even more backwards than Guelph.  Nothing was open on Victoria Day…granted… it was a holiday … but the only thing open was a Tim Hortons!  Go figure eh?  Oh wait… and a Wendy’s … and a couple other fastfood joints.  Anyways … they did have a great conservation area for hiking, but weather just didn’t co-operate.  Nevertheless, even cloudy days can serve a good purpose…so I persevered for some good photos.  One day, you may see them on my gallery or my random photopost (as I call it).

Not too long ago, I went with a friend to the Scarborough Bluffs in Toronto… it was a great day and I was happy to capture some great colour from the water and texture from the bluffs themselves.

Well … I am happy to announce that I am now working for Dundurn under contract until the end of September.  So that keeps me happily occupied (and paid) while i pursue my side projects.  I have enjoyed interning at Dundurn a great deal, they provided me the freedom to bring forth my own ideas into the big picture while providing me with guidance and training on things I was ultra prepared for.  So thank you Dundurn!  Oopz… i forgot that I was supposed to leave my trademark with them … I guess I will do so soon enough.

Sorry for the lack of posting … but I still have to deal with the On the Danforth website which will be completed this weekend (so help me…)  And I have some new ideas that I will be pursuing.  More to come soon enough!

whoa! look at me go!

Alright, so i’ve been busy… not just with hunting for jobs, but also in the midst of drafting a design from scratch for the On the Danforth Magazine website.  Which reminds me, if you find yourself along Danforth Avenue in Toronto, drop into one of the stores and pick up the spring issue of On the Danforth.  The summer issue will be out in June or July i think.  Anyways I am now working on www.onthedanforth.ca , the summer edition of the website.  You’ll all have a chance to take a gander once I am done.  At the moment I am so busy I can design one page a day, well then again I only have a mere 2 hours to deal with it before I have to hit the hay.  I hope I can gather a little more time together as I hope to finish it off for the Launch party, but the way things’re going… nope…doesn’t look like I will.  Oh well…

So aside from the website, Dundurn has been great and i’ve had a great number of opportunities.  They are the greatest people when it comes to internships in my opinion, of course … i’ve only had pretty much one internship in my life!  The other was a work placement so itsI am hoping that I will end up with a job somewhere by the time my internship ends because well … it makes life a whole lot easier and lessen my somewhat difficult financial situation.  It is good to see however that my friends and fellow classmates and I are going to tackle the situation together.  Some are a more worried than others about the situation, but hopefully we can seek out work for everyone sooner or later.  I figure that’s the only way we can survive and thrive in the long-run … well in fact that’s what i think all of humanity should embrace but there goes my optimism and idealism… better stop there.

I will have more info soon… at the moment… i need sleep… ZzzzZzzzZzzzz
