Two aggregators I enjoy using most

With all the websites and social mediums I try out, it’s difficult to keep track of everything.  Lately there are a few options that can help aggregate everything you use.  I had run across suprglu.com a while back, and I enjoy tinkering around with it on occasion, but today I ran across yet another aggregator called soup.io.  Both are very easy to use and oddly enough, I enjoy playing with the customization features.  So in the end, I have to congratulate both of them for making their site fun
to use which I ultimately think must be the goal in mind when developing these new web 2.0 sites.  All too often, I find myself regarding these websites as work, or rather putting in more effort to customize what I want than if I were to simply code my own website.

On the note of aggregators, I have to extend an honourable mention to lijit, a search engine that allows anyone to search through all of your contributions in the social media realm.  It is essentially an aggregator but a very different one indeed.  You can see and try out the search widget on the left side of my blog.  I’m still waiting for a little more customization ability for this widget and their facebook application.

A Stunning Website in Flash

I run across websites made in Flash a lot. But rarely am I this impressed. The makers of Tin Man, a new and upcoming mini series for television based on the Wizard of Oz have setup an insanely stunning website in Flash. I’m not simply talking about the spiffy effects in Flash here, I am talking about the blend of beautiful artwork with some pretty solid Flash design. Now this is something to aspire towards!

Tackling Adobe Flash - One Stick Man at a Time

Macromedia Adobe Flash has been around for quite some time. If you began using the Internet since the mid-1990s on a dial-up connection, you would have noticed the introduction and gradual rise of Flash technology in proportion to the number of Internet users that have broadband connections. Nowadays we don’t usually think of how long a Flash animation will take to load unless there was a Flash developer/designer that created a poorly made piece of Flash.

I’ve been toying with Flash more and more as I see it becoming a more relevant part of the Internet and that Google will soon introduce a version of their Analytics software that will make it easier for web content managers to be able to monitor how users interact with Flash components or a website completely designed in Flash. They’re already helping

Regardless, I’ve been playing with Flash, Actionscript and hoping to design my own first site in Flash soon! I know, nothing spectacular these days but I consider it one of my firsts.

My uncle sent this over the other day and I absolutely love this animation. I’m not sure if it was done in Flash but it definitely illustrates how users/designers using the program Adobe Flash Professional can feel when things just aren’t working out … or are they?

Kudos to Alan Becker for creating something awe-inspiring in a setting that Flash users/designers/developers see on a day-to-day basis. Go visit his DeviantArt site for more great creations!

Now there’s even a game made by Charles Yeh! Amazing stuff!

McCabe stays cool

I think McCabe did the right thing by not responding to the boos.  Go Leafs Go  :)  Never give up hope that the Leafs will one day reach the dream again.

Photographs that Inspire

I often look for photographs that inspire.  There are plenty of photographs online that are great and technically near perfect, but I rarely see photos that inspire me.  I subscribe to Smugmug’s service and part of their online community involves a contest called Last Photographer Standing.  Here are some of my favourites from the bunch but visit the gallery and see some of the most inspirational photographs you’ll encounter online.  I hope to take photographs as good as these below in the future!  Still learning as always…

Finally pulled off Phase I

Finally got around to pulling off Phase I of Dundurn’s website.  Check it out and let me know what you think … it’s work in progress … but it’s still something different.

I’m going to go now … and pass out … because I’ve been sick for the entire week … boo …

A little fun with Flash

I’ve been playing with Macromedia Adobe Flash lately. Check out what I’ve made! Fun stuff … but time consuming. Let me know what you think. Is it worth it?

Simply for the fun … here’s a masterpiece from 1979 — The Warriors.
