We’ve seen many visualizations. Visualizations that are interactive, static, and dynamic. From tag clouds to funnel charts, we now have numerous methods of looking at how we interact with content online. What about our traditional forms of media? I saw this on 20×200 and felt was definitely worth sharing — a fascinating piece of art as well as a visualization of the content in a Vogue magazine through a painting.
Vogue JUL07:pg145 (Ripeness is All) by Lauren DiCioccio
I’ve often thought — what are the most popular colours used on a book cover? What about the most popular typeface? Favourite type of photograph? How many book covers use stock photos? Type of paper? Do they use Photoshop? This only touches the surface of the potential. The combination of this information intertwined with a medium frequently used in the visual arts could provide fascinating and and visually thoughtful creations like the works of Lauren DiCioccio. Make sure to check out her website to see more of her “color codification dot drawings.”
I could spend a lot of time (and $$$) on 20×200 — I just wish their shipping rate to Canada wasn’t so high. In the meanwhile, keep up the #blueskyspirit
