Future Shop’s new interactive expert

Futureshop ExpertApparently over the past week (or this Canada Day long weekend) Future Shop has introduced a new feature to assist people purchasing items from its online store. Meet Aaron (that’s right, Aaron … not Ehren), a new interactive expert powered by Adobe’s Flash technology (indirectly of course).

But Aaron’s not just almost a real life person who responds to your questions. He also fidgets when he’s bored, adjusts his chair height, wipes the screen, play video games and questions your sanity.

It seems like Future Shop has taken a page out of Microsoft’s Ms. Dewey (who?) website that helped promote Microsoft’s Live Search engine.

In addition to Aaron being on the sidebar, there is also a full interactive page (i said hello) that allows you to view videos of actual Future Shop sales reps reviewing various products that they sell. Looks like Future Shop is stepping up the web 2.0 silliness.

And when I say silliness, I mean the massive trend shift that is taking place all over the world. I wonder if this so-called interactive expert can help sell books too. Hey Aaron, how about you come join the book publishing industry!?
