I always enjoy a good avatar. With Google’s introduction of Lively yesterday, I decided to take a gander. Surprisingly Lively works quite smoothly in the browser but it’s a little slow in loading — maybe because it is just so new. In comparison, I found Second Life more complex and difficult to use while Lively has been relatively user friendly. These are just my initial thoughts as I tinker around.
On the other hand — I’ve got myself a new avatar … still waiting for the glasses though:

Funny. Friends, loved ones, family, and colleagues have consistently discussed our own so-called master plans. Whether it may be for life, for our own companies, for the businesses we work for, or for the causes we fight for — I often wonder how everyone else fits into the master plan. Similarly, parents, families, businesses, managers, and leaders have plans for us that we are not necessarily aware of. For Google, their plan involved us — people from around the world. We don’t really know what their master plan is but watching this video about Google’s Master Plan reminded me of the film The Man Who Fell to Earth.
So despite the fact that we use Google and the many products or services they offer, the lack of transparency and accountability clouds the trust that people have for the company. Do we choose to endorse their master plan somewhat blindly or do we question the means with which they do things? When we create our own master plan that involves the people around us — do we expect them to jump on board unquestionably? Would we do the same for others?
The answer is likely not simple one, but the essence of that answer is: if you want me to become apart of your so-called master plan, then you will have to inform me of what that plan is.
MacromediaAdobe Flash has been around for quite some time. If you began using the Internet since the mid-1990s on a dial-up connection, you would have noticed the introduction and gradual rise of Flash technology in proportion to the number of Internet users that have broadband connections. Nowadays we don’t usually think of how long a Flash animation will take to load unless there was a Flash developer/designer that created a poorly made piece of Flash.
I’ve been toying with Flash more and more as I see it becoming a more relevant part of the Internet and that Google will soon introduce a version of their Analytics software that will make it easier for web content managers to be able to monitor how users interact with Flash components or a website completely designed in Flash. They’re already helping …
Regardless, I’ve been playing with Flash, Actionscript and hoping to design my own first site in Flash soon! I know, nothing spectacular these days but I consider it one of my firsts.
My uncle sent this over the other day and I absolutely love this animation. I’m not sure if it was done in Flash but it definitely illustrates how users/designers using the program Adobe Flash Professional can feel when things just aren’t working out … or are they?
